THAT a progress report be provided to Council on the establishment, utilisation and operation of the Emerging Communities Resource Centre at Lakemba.

THAT given the success of the Emerging Communities Resource Centre, investigations be undertaken into the possibility of providing larger premises in the Lakemba/Punchbowl area to expand ECRC facilities to include separate meeting and activity areas.

THAT Council acknowledge the concerns of local residents in relation to traffic volumes in Berring Avenue, Roselands and resolves to enter into discussions with the Punchbowl Bus Company seeking to remove Berring Avenue from the local bus route, thereby allowing the implementation of appropriate traffic calming measures in the street, AND THAT the support of the NSW Minister of Transport and the Local Member of State Parliament be sought for this proposal.

1. A report be presented to the next Council meeting on the viability of introducing an award program to recognise the contribution of local community groups to community life over the preceding 12 months or longer if a particular group(s) efforts over a number of years are considered to be outstanding.
2. The report set out the criteria for the selection of groups for inclusion in the program, method of judging, selection of award winners, costs associated with the program and other relevant information.
1. Signage of a conspicuous size be erected in prominent locations including the change room, grandstand and other public sites at Punchbowl Park advising park users that vehicles must be parked in the designated carpark in Rose Street at all times and that this is a condition of park hire.
2. This requirement be included in all park hire documents with a warning that failure to comply with this condition of hire could result in approval to use the park in the future being withheld.
3. Council rangers monitor the use and a report be provided at the end of booking seasons (March and September 2013) on the extent of use of the car park by user groups during fixtures.
4. Residents in Rose and Violet Streets and groups that use Punchbowl Park be advised of this decision.
1. An award for service in the promotion of multiculturalism in the City of Canterbury be developed by our Multicultural Advisory Committee in recognition of individuals, groups or organisations that foster cross-cultural co-operation and promote multicultural harmony
2. This award be named the City of Canterbury Anne Latu Award for Multiculturalism.
1. A report be provided on the provision and availability of public toilets in Town Centres and parks within the City of Canterbury.
2. The report address information concerning the opening, closing times and services available at current facilities and plans to upgrade or increase the availability of public toilet facilities in the City of Canterbury.
  1. A report be provided outlining costs and options for the development of on-street angled parking at Punchbowl Park in Viola Street, Punchbowl. The report should also canvass ideas to improve access and utilisation of the existing carpark in Rose Street, Punchbowl, including improved directional signage identifying the location of the carpark and improved pathway access between the carpark and grandstand; and
  1. A further report be provided on the possibility of providing a drop-off zone in Viola Street, Punchbowl and improved lighting for training in the park.
