Labour councillor Khodr Saleh has been installed as Canterbury’s deputy mayor for the second time.Cr Saleh (pictured with Mayor Brian Robson) was elected unopposed on Thursday and will serve a 12-month term.
“For the past few years I’ve seen the many improvements in our city,” he said. “If this is to remain a city of progress it’s vital we remain a council committeed to delivering for our community.”
Cr Saleh was first elected to council on 2004 and previously served as deputy mayor in 2008-09.
He has chaired the council’s multicultural advisory committee since 2006.
Cr Saleh immigrated to Australia from Lebanon in 1985 and lives in Canterbury with his wife Nadia and their four children.
