Fire safety saves lives

Saving lives was the aim of a fire safety course held in Campsie for public housing tenants. Fire investigators have found fatalities have occurred because residents did not know how to get out of burning homes, or got out and then went back inside.

Canterbury City councillor Karl Saleh said domestic fire safety is very important.

“This training will increase tenants understanding and awareness of the need of emergency preparation if a fire should occur in the home,” Cr Saleh said.

The training program was held as part of the Arabic Communities Participation Project and funded by the Industrial Relations Commission.
