School win for building harmony

WILEY Park Girls’ High School’s deputy principal Debbie Agapitos and teacher Marie Mourad have been recognised and presented with Harmony Day awards by Harmony Day ambassador and Federal MP for Watson, Tony Burke (pictured).

The Canterbury Bankstown Harmony Group’s Karl Saleh commended the teachers on their valuable contribution to the community in fostering harmony and co-existence.
The school also recently hosted Race Discrimination Commissioner Dr Tim Soutphommasane who gave a talk during their Refugee Week celebrations.

A school spokesperson said the race commissioner’s visit was inspiring.
“It enhanced our school’s spirit of inclusive education and helped us acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful qualities refugees bring to our multi cultural Australia,” she said.
